Contrast Medium

Dependent on the issue in question contrast agents are administered during CT, MRI or X-ray examinations. We either make use of oral contrast medium (oral solutions which you drink before the examination) or intravenous contrast agents which are injected into a vein of the arm. They improve contrast of the images and therefore help us to detect even the smallest abnormal changes in tissue.
Contrast agents differ from each other with regard to their ingredients. Before the examinations, it’s always necessary to talk about allergies or contraindications, e.g. impaired renal function.
